Expedition Pnn serranía de la macarena, caño cristals

macarena, goal

The PNN Sierra de La Macarena has its origins in the Biological Reserve of La Macarena (1948), includes the most extensive geological survey to the west of the Guayanès Shield, with an average extension of 130 kilometers. In  its varied ecosystems are humid forests, flooded forests, thickets and herbaceous vegetation of the Amazon savannah.

It is an extraordinary area due to its isolated mountainous conditions, which suggests the presence of unique species and an important rate of diversity in flora and fauna. You can also see archaeological samples on the Duda and Guayabero rivers, where petroglyphs and pictograms of indigenous cultures that inhabited the area are found.

Caño Cristales is located in this same park, which is characterized by its unique   beauty given the range of colors offered by aquatic plants and its rocky bed, which has allowed it to stand out worldwide as an iconic place.
